Monday, December 30, 2019

Current Dominican University MBA student Erick Mendoza was profiled in a WLS-TV segment focusing on his efforts to help other students like himself navigate their DACA applications. Mendoza has been a DACA recipient since 2102 and came to the U.S. 13 years ago.

In the segment, he discusses the struggles he experienced before receiving his bachelor's degree and continuing his education. He also expressed his frustration with the politics surrounding DACA.

"I think it's frustrating knowing DACA is used as a political tool and nothing more than that," he said.

Tina Taylor-Ritzler, professor of psychology, was included in the segment, sharing her admiration for Mendoza's determination.

Mendoza's determination to complete his education derives from his desire to set a good example for his daughter and other DACA recipients.

"I want to show that we are people of good and, you know, we do good," he said.
