Thursday, October 22, 2020

President Donna Carroll was profiled in the Wednesday Journal following the announcement of her retirement, effective June 2021. The article credited Carroll with leading the institution's commitment to social justice as part of its Catholic identity. She admitted that the announcement of her retirement might be surprising to many people but insisted that it was a responsible time to pass the torch to new leadership.

"Despite the craziness of COVID-19, we have strong enrollment, stunning rankings, and great financial stability. This is an extraordinary moment for this institution," she said.

She also advised that the institution was in good hands.

"I'm confident the vice presidents and senior team have a commitment to this institution and to be a strong and stabilizing force," she said.

Carroll has served as president of Dominican for 27 years. "This moment may seem early to some people, even me, but it's not bad to make a transition when the institution is doing well. That's a gift. I've had a long, successful tenure. It's a responsible time for me to leave. The institution is well positioned to attract a strong pool of candidates."
