Penny Silvers

Associate Professor Education, Division Chair, MAED & Reading Specialist Program

Penny Silvers serves as the division chair of the Masters of Arts in Education and Reading Specialist Program at Dominican’s School of Education. She advises students and teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in literacy and reading. Previously she was a reading specialist and literacy coordinator for over 15 years at Pritchett School in Buffalo Grove. Silvers has coordinated professional development programs for Chicago Public School teachers on Chicago’s west side in collaboration with the Associated Colleges of Illinois, and she works with the Kaplan Foundation Fund and the Chicago Community Trust to provide books to third and fourth grade children in the North Lawndale and West Garfield Park communities.
