Father Brendan Curran Participates in Rally Supporting DACA

Monday, January 22, 2018

Father Brendan Curran, special assistant to the president, participated on March 5 in a rally in support of DACA recipients. Organized by faith leaders, the rally was held on the day that marked the official end to the DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) program. Participants marched from Willow Church in Chicago's Loop to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) office on Congress Expressway.

Curran was interviewed by ABC-TV's Leah Hope, indicating that he was participating in the rally because "it's a symbolic day in which families feel great threat."

"We have to be civically engaged. Our own faith traditions remind us of that. But, in particular, recognizing how we can welcome the stranger--that's my own Catholic tradition," he said.
