White Supremacists Love Vikings. But They've Got Their History Wrong

Professor of History David Perry wrote an op-ed piece in the Washington Post about the May 29 Portland (OR) train attack on three men who were defending two young women from verbal abuse by a white supremacist. The alleged attacker had posted on his Facebook page, "Hail, Vinland!".


Perry contends that white supremacists have their history wrong when they appropriate the Viking myths of Vinland and a pure white medieveal Europe to postion themselves as righteous defenders in the wars of race of religions that they think are coming.
