Dominican students help the hungry

Tuesday, February 14, 2017

Dominican students, including representatives from the men's and women's soccer teams lent many hands to the Feed 6 program's food packaging day on Sunday, February 12. More than 33,000 meals were packaged in the Parmer Hall Atrium by volunteers from Dominican and the Trinity Volunteer Corps.

Feed 6 is an international organization that has packaged and distributed more than 300 million meals for hungry children and their families since 2004. Through its innovative food packaging community events, the organization brings together hundreds of volunteers who work in assembly lines to package macaroni and cheese meals enriched with soy protein, nutrients and vitamins. The fortified meals are then bagged, labeled, weighed and boxed for local distribution.

Dominican's athletics program, in particular, always fields a good representation of student-athletes for this annual program. Go Stars!
