Mickey Sweeney

Professor, English, Co-Director of Honors Program

Mickey Sweeney’s primary areas of study are medieval romance and medieval English Christianity, with a special focus on the 14th century anonymous poem Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. Her teaching interests span a wide variety of disciplines, often mixing theory with Shakespeare, or theology with history. She recently spent a sabbatical as the Derek Brewer Visiting Fellow at Emmanuel College at Cambridge University. Sweeney is a founding board member of Christianity and Culture, a project developed to provide students and fellow colleagues with up-to-date materials for the study of medieval Christianity in the classroom. She also was co-coordinator and host of the 2010 Illinois Medieval Association and Medieval Association of the Midwest Conference at Dominican.
