Martha Jacob

Associate Professor of Sociology and Criminology, Specialization Coordinator, Gerontology. Director, URSCI

In addition to serving as assistant professor in the sociology and criminology department, Martha Jacob also coordinates the gerontology specialization for undergraduates and directs the Office of Undergraduate Research and Creative Investigations. She has worked with Adrian Kok, associate professor in Dominican’s Graduate School of Social Work, to start a gerontology certificate program for social work students. They received grants from the Social Work Leadership Institute at the New York Academy of Medicine, as well as the John A. Hartford Foundation Hartford Practicum Partnership Program for Aging Education. The grants help fund internships for social work graduate students. Previously, Jacob served as information specialist at the Suburban Area Agency on Aging in Oak Park, IL, statistical analyst and programmer at the Buehler Center on Aging at Northwestern University, and project coordinator for the Health Research and Policy Center at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
