Liesl Orenic

Director of American Studies, Professor, History

Liesl Miller Orenic’s academic research has focused on the history of labor movements in the United States. She serves as an advisor on The Labor Trail (www.labortrail.org), an online interactive map of Chicago’s labor and working-class history. She serves as co-chair of the Chicago Center for Working-Class Studies, affiliated with the University of Illinois School of Labor and Employment Relations and on the Board of Trustees of the Illinois Labor History Society. Prior to coming to Dominican, Orenic worked as a union organizer for the Illinois Education Association-NEA and was the first president of the Roosevelt University Adjunct Faculty Association (RAFO-IEA-NEA).
